The Blueprint was started by Rhea Bagchee, a student who grew interested in environmental science after learning about the tiny pieces of plastic that move quietly through water and soil. She began studying microplastic nanoparticles on her own, trying to understand how they travel through ecosystems and how they influence the geological cycle. Her work eventually led her to share what she had learned at two conferences, RTESE in London and ICEPR in Barcelona, and she later received an invitation to WSESA in Paris. These experiences helped her see how many people, in different places, were asking similar questions about the environment.
As she continued her research, Rhea realized that many students around her were curious about environmental science but did not always know where to begin. She wanted to create a space where students could learn through simple, hands-on projects and feel supported while exploring their ideas. That intention became The Blueprint.
What started as a small club has grown to include chapters in other countries, with students studying their local ecosystems and sharing what they discover. Rhea’s hope for The Blueprint has always stayed the same. She wants it to be a place where young people can learn about the environment at their own pace, ask questions that matter to them, and feel encouraged to look more closely at the world they live in.
